Inspiration for Theatre

Hey Guys

ive been working on my spatial planning and massing lately and ive had a few inspirations from various architects. i just thought id fill use in on the path of design im following

-Glenn Murcutt (his use of timber and flexible elements to suit enviroments)
-Renzo Piano (creeative and unique designs)
-Tom Kundig (his use of iron and industiral materials blend well with the HSW site)
and so so so so many more
The image ive included above is by Glenn Murcutt i just really liked this style of drawing and its provded me with lots of inspiration and given me the free spirit to just skecth without making it look beautiful to get ideas down quickly.

Flexible Architecture

Hey

Ive deleloped one panel on what i think flexable architecture is so far from a book by Robert Kronenburg. Its just a summary of the good points Kronenburg makes and the things i would like most to incorperate into my theatre design.

Enjoy

Initial Project Brief and Exemplars

Hey Guys

Im well into my development of my theatre project for the howard smith wharves now. Thought id post up my initial breif and examplar research to date. My brief looks at a range of concepts and ideas but my key concept that i will be forming my design off is Flexible Architecture. Below is a few notes on my findings but i will develop a collated panel and post it soon.

Flexible Architecture Theatre: Respond to changing situaions in their use, operation or location. This is architecture that adapts not stagnates, transform not restricts, motive rather than static and interacts with its users rather than inhabit.

:The building should establih different identities when it is open or when it is closed to the public.

:It should have the ability to change its image depending on the nature of the activity that is taking place inside.

Thats just a basic idea. I will upload my detailed research and development into flexible architecture and how this will form my theatre design at a later date.

Thanks

Howard Smith Wharves Noise and Wind Analysis

Hey Blog World.
Just poping up some images of a site analysis on Howard Smith Wharves in Brisbane, Australia. The Diagrams look at Noise, Wind, Movement and Demographics.
The following information was recorded about the smells in the area
-Forest like aroma
-Smell of salt water
-A sense of freshness in the air due to the vegetation
The following information was also recorded about the noise in the area
-Large amounts of noise from Story bridge above
-Birds
-People
-Vegetaion
(No noise from the river was noted excpet for passing boats/ city cats)
The loudest noted noises proceeded to come from the story bridge traffic. This is generated from cars traveling over the joints of the bridge. The Story Bridge was also noted to have a specific RHYTHM about it with the passing traffic.
Rhythm was based off the following three factors:
-Traffic (provides overlapping de- crescendo
-Foot Steps (create initial beat)
-Story Bridge (base note)
(trucks breaking and traffic sirens act ad lead "licks")
Anyway that is the site findings at this stage but these will continue to develop during the continued study of the site

Thanks
